Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with 2+ years of post-related experience, or 8+ years of extensive progressive experience in lieu of a degree
• 8+ years of progressive experience in complex network engineering roles
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting scalable enterprise network infrastructures using BGP, MPLS, IPv6, OSPF, IS-IS, IP Multicast, and SD-WAN
• Active CCNP Enterprise or Service Provider certification required
• Deep expertise in BGP including route reflectors, confederations, communities, path manipulation, filtering, iBGP, eBGP, and policy control
• Strong QoS design and optimisation experience including shaping, policing, classification, CBWFQ, LLQ, and WRED
• Proven IPv6 implementation and troubleshooting experience within dual-stack environments
• Strong knowledge of policy-based routing, route aggregation, summarisation, redistribution, VRF, and MPLS traffic engineering
• Extensive multicast networking experience including PIM, IGMP, MSDP, Anycast RP, and multicast troubleshooting
• Strong datacentre and switching knowledge including STP, MSTP, RapidPVST, EtherChannel, LACP, StackWise, Cisco Nexus NX-OS, Spine-Leaf, and VXLAN
• Advanced troubleshooting skills using tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, and SNMP
• Hands-on SD-WAN experience
• Familiarity with DevNet, API integrations, and network programmability
• Strong understanding of network security concepts including ACLs, firewalls, VPNs, IPSec, AAA, RBAC, PKI, and security hardening
• Proficiency in network automation and scripting using Python, Ansible, and Terraform
• 2+ years of experience with HP Network Automation or equivalent orchestration platforms
• 4+ years of experience with Network Monitoring and Event Management systems, ideally CA Spectrum
• Experience using Incident Management platforms such as BMC Remedy
• Strong network, system, and application-level troubleshooting capabilities
• Comprehensive understanding of command-and-control (C2) systems and technical management
• Broad knowledge of C2 systems and software maintenance procedures
• Experience conducting site and systems evaluations and inspections
• Experience producing test plans, technical documentation, and SOPs
• Knowledge of configuration management practices and tools
• Understanding of ITIL service management and Service Transition processes
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within technical teams
• Strong problem-solving mindset with a results-driven approach
• Active CCIE certification desirable
• Previous experience working in international military and civilian environments desirable
• Knowledge of NATO structures, responsibilities, ACO, and ACT desirable
Activities:
• Provide advanced Level 3 support across complex enterprise network environments
• Lead technical resolution of high-impact and high-severity incidents
• Analyse recurring issues and implement long-term corrective solutions
• Identify and implement service optimisation and operational improvement initiatives
• Support the design, planning, and implementation of network enhancements and projects
• Ensure technical accuracy, operational readiness, and minimal service disruption during deployments and changes
• Validate and support network changes in line with governance and change management processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and service stakeholders
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to team knowledge sharing
• Perform and support remote routine maintenance across NATO Routing and Switching environments
• Coordinate Routing and Switching standardisation, centralisation, and best practices across sites
• Liaise with internal NCI Agency teams and external organisations for fault resolution activities
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Coordinate and perform routing infrastructure design, configuration, and maintenance for NATO exercises and operations
• Evaluate network management tools and operational capabilities
• Promote consistent toolset usage and operational methodologies across centralised and distributed user environments
• Investigate and propose long-term solutions for equipment and configuration issues
• Coordinate on-site surveys, validation activities, and system acceptance testing when required
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy under the direction of the Senior Routing and Switching Engineer
